Cardinal Peace on Earth - Sweet Sunday Sketch #248

I'm in the mood for making birds using the Bird Builder Punch.  All afternoon I worked on making a Blue Jay, but it didn't come out to my satisfaction, so I defaulted on cardinals.  I knew I could make them.
I thought the cardinals would look great in the sketch challenge with Sweet Sunday Sketch here and I'm quite pleased with the way the card turned out.

The cardinals were made first, using scraps of Real Red, Basic Black and Summer Starfruit.  A white gel pen was used for the eye.

All the edges were sponged with Real Red ink to give the bird some dimension.

I had intended for all the birds to be facing one way, but when I had them done, two were facing in a different direction.  Never mind.  I made it work.  They were mounted (with dimensionals) on 1 3/8" squares of Kraft cardstock whose edges had been sponged with Garden Green ink.

The basic card is Garden Green, matted with Whisper White cardstock, and then Nordic Noel DSP.  I placed a Mossy Meadow ribbon on the left just underneath the squares.

The sentiment is from "Greetings of the Season" ,is stamped using Garden Green ink, and die cut using the Labels framelit.  The Labels framelit was also used to mat the Whisper White die cut.

White Pine With Red Ornament - GORGEOUS!

The card itself is Cherry Cobbler with a Whisper White layer on top of that.  The top cardstock layer is Smoky Slate which was sponged around the perimeter with Lost Lagoon ink.  The pine branch was then stamped with VersaMark and heat embossed with White Embossing Powder.  I sprinkled some Rhinestones around on the needles for some sparkle.

The ornament was heat embossed with Cherry Cobbler Embossing Powder, cut out by hand then adhered to the card.  A bow of Silver Baker's Twine attaches it to the branch.  The words, also from the set, are stamped in Cherry Cobbler onto the Whisper White banner.

Wine Bottle Tag by Maria

Wine Tag/ Label in Blue and Silver - The Friday Mashup 188

Yesterday I made a wine label for a customer of mine, and I liked the Pool Party and silver one so much I thought I would make another one for the challenge with The Friday Mashup here

This week's Mashup Challenge is:

• Create a project using "Silver or Gold". 
• Create a "Christmas Project". 
• or Mash it Up! and create a "Christmas-themed Project with Silver or Gold"

My choice was to make a Christmas wine tag/label using the colours Lost Lagoon and silver.

The  wine tag/label was die cut using Lost Lagoon cardstock and the banners framelit I managed to make it 9 7/8" long by placing the unnotched end over the cut edge of the framelit rather than under it (then it didn't cut).  It is 2 1/4" wide.  I scored it 3 " from the top and used a 1 1/4" circle punch to make a hole for the bottle neck (in the middle).  To make this opening look a little more decorative, I took a scrap of silver foil paper, punched a 1 1/4" circle in it, then centered a 1 3/4" scallop circle punch around it, and punched.  The resultant scalloped "hole" fit the bottle neck hole perfectly.

The Lost Lagoon tag was matted with decorative silver striped vellum, which I die cut the same way only with a smaller banner framelit.  This was cut in 2 secions - one 6 1/4" long, and the second piece 2 5/8" long.  The vellum was attached using vellum double sided tape.  After the vellum as attached to the flap, I again used the 1 1/4" circle punch to punch through the existing hole.

In the middle of the tag I attached a silver foil piece 3 by 1 1/4".  The top and bottom edges were scalloped with the scallop edge punch.

Then I made a cone embellishment using the "All is Calm" DSP, which I punched into 1" pieces using the 1" square punch.  Each piece was rolled into a cone and adhered to a punched circle using a hot glue gun.  In the center I placed a snow flake die cut using a retired sizzlet die. A 1/2" silver foil circle was attached to the center followed by a large rhinestone.  It was attached using the hot glue gun.

The sentiment from "Many More Messages" was stamped with Lost Lagoon and embossed with clear embossing powder, then die cut using the Labels framelit.  It was matted with silver foild paper.  Of course I had to place some rhinestones under the sentiment.

To finish the tag, I made a bow out of the 5/8" silver satin ribbon and adhered it to the bottom of the tag under the embellishment.

Greeting Card Kids Tag and tutorial

Next week is my last class before Christmas, and my plan is to have a variety of tags on hand for my students to make.
One thing I wanted to do was make a tag using the envelope punch board.  While searching for samples, I came across this lady (The Paper Princess) who had done a remarkable video on tags using the Envelope Punch board here
After watching the video, I decided to make one of the tags, and do a step by step pictoral tutorial while I was at it.

I used the stamp set "Greeting Card Kids" to make this tag, a stamp set I haven't used at all this holiday season.
Here's how I made the tag:

1. Cut a piece of Whisper White cardstock any size you wish, but I chose 2 1/4 by 4 1/4"
2. Insert this piece into the Envelope Punch board at the scoring guide and punch.

 

 

 3. Turn the tag over and punch the other side the same way.  This is what your punched tag now looks like.

4.  Mark some cutting lines on the tag, or free hand it.  I prefer to be a bit more accurate and draw the cutting line.

5.  Cut these pieces off.  This is what the tag looks like now.

6.  Now make the tag topper.  You can make this any colour you want to coordinate with other elements in your tag.  I chose to make mine in red.
First cut a piece of Real Red card stock 2 1/2 by 1 1/4" and score at 1 1/4" on the long side.

7.  Fold this piece in half and crease with the bone folder. Open it up and insert it into the envelope maker at the 1 1/4" mark and punch. Turn over and punch the other side.

  

Close the punched piece and again crease the fold with the bone folder.  This is what the topper now looks like.

8.  Punch a hole in the top.  Reinforce this hole by punching a another hole in a different colored cardstock and use a 3/4" circle punch to punch around it.  Make two of them.  I made green ones, again to go with the colour scheme of the tag.  Adhere these around the punched hole.

Attach the topper to the tag.  Decorate tag as desired.

This really is easy to make and the Stampin'Up! stapler works great with this.  I followed Ronda Wade's directions/video.  I used the Under the Tree specialty paper which is a heavier cardstock perfect for boxes and great for this.  You can use regular designer series paper, too.  I used six 6" squares, scissors, and stapler.  Then decorated with leftovers from the Many Merry Stars Simply Sent Kit and the 1" Sheer Linen Cherry Cobbler Ribbon.  I will share the link to Ronda's video here, too.  This makes a big star but you could use smaller squares, 3", 4", or 5" if you like.

Versamarking Embossing Folders For Beautiful Cards

The background is stamped using the Lovely Lace embossing folder. You ink up the inside of the folder (the side which says Made In China on it) with Versamark ink and then sandwich your card stock in between and apply even pressure to the outside to transfer the Versamark to the cardstock. I found that the best results were when I used the brayer to roll over the outside, with the embossing folder on a Stampin' Pierce Mat or rubbing your fingers firmly over the outside, with the folder on the mat.
