Glittery Butterfly Ornament by Melissa Banbury

Supplies for Shimmery Butterfly Ornament

Directions:
  1. Cut out ONE of the largest butterflies from Gold Glimmer Paper using the Big Shot.
  2. Cut out ONE of the largest butterflies from Winter Wonderland Specialty Designers Series Paper.
  3. Cut out ONE of the middle sized butterflies from Gold Glimmer Paper.
  4. Stack the butterflies in the following order: largest glimmer butterfly on the bottom, large DSP butterfly in the middle, and the smallest glimmer butterfly on top.  Glue the layers together with Glue Dots.
  5. Cut a 16" length of Gold Cording.  Wrap around the body of the butterfly twice and tie into a loop securely.
Variations:
  • Change the size of the ornament by using mixing up the other thinlits in the set.
  • Change the color combos to match your Christmas decor
  • Attach a small gift tag to the cording and add to a package.  This creates both a tag and a gift - dual purpose is always a win win!
Tips:
  • When using Thinlits on Glimmer Paper, always lay the thinlit on the backside of the glimmer paper to cut.  Glimmer Papers have a thin coating on the backside and cutting from the front often means the thinlit doesn't cut through this layer evenly.
  • When using a detailed thinlit such as the one featured in this tutorial, try using Stampin' Up!'s new Precision Plate.  It makes intricate cuts a breeze!
